After six long years in the division having never challenged for a world title, Cruz finally got his chance when he fought Gervonta Davis for the WBA Lightweight title. After a hard fought bout, Davis was awarded the decision victory though there are people that argue Cruz deserved the win.

Beterbiev is known for his thunderous punching power, which has led him to an undefeated record and a 100% KO rate (19 KOs in 19 fights). Bivol, on the other hand, has showcased his tactical brilliance and technical mastery inside the ring. 11:49 p.m. ET: Heather Hardy is one tough cookie as she ends up going the distance with Amanda Serrano. She absorbed a lot of punishment but refused to go down. One particular sequence at the end of the 9th round saw the action stopped as blood streamed down her face. But Hardy slammed her gloves together and drew a tremendous ovation from the crowd. The 10th round was just an absolute slugfest as Hardy and Serrano threw punches nonstop for 120 seconds. A fantastic finish and even though Hardy won't get the win, who won over the crowd.

There is still opportunities for former Lightweight World Champion Jorge Linares, as well as Belfast’s own James Tennyson who is creeping up the rankings after stepping up from the Super-Featherweight division.

4. Billy Joe Saunders (26-0) England's Saunders made his second title defense against Willie Monroe Jr., who previously had been drilled by Gennady Golovkin in a world title fight, on Sept. 16. Saunders won a unanimous decision in a dreadful fight. But on Dec. 16, Saunders traveled to the Quebec home turf of former titlist and mandatory challenger David Lemieux and put on an absolute clinic in a one-sided unanimous decision to retain his belt for the third time and set himself up for a possible fight against the expected May 5 rematch between Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez. 9:35 p.m. ET: Curry managed to make it to the final bell so she gets the moral victory but it's Green and her power punching that take the decision. Green what is the highest division in boxing going to be a problem for a lot of women but it will be interesting to see if he can reach the upper crust of the super middleweight division.
